The Visionary Behind The Chatpata Affair

From humble beginnings to revolutionizing Indian street food, Shiju Pappen is the driving force behind The Chatpata Affair. With over two decades of experience in the food & beverage industry, Shiju’s journey is a story of grit, growth, and unshakable belief in the power of good food served right.
Born and raised in a modest household in Rajasthan, Shiju began his career in 1997 as a dishwasher at Pizza Hut in Delhi. Through sheer dedication and a hunger to learn, he rose through the ranks to hold senior leadership positions in global brands, including as CEO of Southern Fried Chicken India. But his true dream was to bring the magic of Indian street food to the mainstream – in a hygienic, modern, and scalable way.
In 2020, Shiju founded The Chatpata Affair with a simple mobile cart and a bold vision: to reimagine the chaat experience for the next generation. Today, his venture has grown to over 50 outlets across India, with plans to expand internationally.
Shiju’s passion for food, deep understanding of customer experience, and entrepreneurial spirit continue to guide the brand’s journey. He remains hands-on in innovation, menu development, and mentoring franchise partners – ensuring every outlet delivers not just taste, but trust.
